Long nights and shorter, colder days: if you want to get the best out of a German tradition, then a visit to Rothenburg’s Reiterlesmarkt is a must during the Advent period. Every year, the medieval town of Rothenburg is transformed into a winter’s fairytale. As far back as the 15th century, Advent festivities have been accompanied by a wonderful Christmas market. And so the ‘Reiterlesmarkt’ is today the symbol of the peaceful Christmas as it has grown over centuries, and the city’s decorations for the Christmas holidays lend it a truly romantic character.
The smell of the mulled wine and roasted almonds, the illumination by thousands of fairy lights and the festive music provided by local brass bands…you will find here everything your heart desires, may it be the traditional Christmas pastries, “Snow Ball” pastries or the “Weisser Glühwein” (white mulled wine). The market is open every day and the entry is free of charge. Several restaurants also offer Christmas menus.
When? From 25th November to 23rd December 2016
