Karlobag

Hello everybody!

If you don’t like crowded croatian resorts, I recommend visiting history breathing Karlobag. Town, that was known from the Roman ages was years ago defensive and administrative center thanks to good accessibility through mountain range Velebit by Oštarije Saddle / Stara vrata.

Narrow streets between old houses offer you a chance of romantical walks and sitting in small cafes with a view to the sea and island Pag. Tourists can acommodate in Hotel Zagreb or in private apartments. Beaches are very various – with small pebbles, big rocks or with cemented areas. For kids is there a huge sea pool full of gravel and sand. There are a lot of chances to sunbath and for people who like shade is there a pine forest under Hotel Zagreb where everybody can hide in all circumstances. Showers and toilets are on beaches, too, but the’re paid (symbolic fee, like 1 or 2Kn) and you can also find bars and restaurants functioning until sunrise.

People, who are interested in history can find there fortress ,,Fortica”, Mediterranean garden ,,Kava” full of lavenders, brick buildings that were used to catching rainwater with openings at the top – šterne and calvary. St. Karlo Boromejski’s church is attraction because it was sadly damaged during bombings in 1943. In 1958 were remains of the church excepting tower removed because of building Adriatic highway.

In the whole Karlobag riviera you’ll certainly experience days with strong north wind, which is known under the name ,,bora”.
